Father John
Father John has previously served communities in California, Texas, and most recently, Newport, Rhode Island. He brings with him a rich pastoral experience and a great deal of knowledge of the Orthodox faith, which will help enhance and cultivate the ministries at Saint Demetrios of Fall River.
He was born and raised in western Michigan, receiving his religious education from his maternal grandparents, who were 1924 refugees from Cappadocia. After high school, he entered an Orthodox monastery, beginning his journey in Byzantine music, Church history, and theology while living a monastic lifestyle. He was later employed by various churches in the United States as a pastoral assistant and chanter, starting in New Orleans and later serving in various churches in Southern California.
After completing his studies at UCLA in Ethnomusicology and Byzantine/Ottoman History, Father John moved to Greece, where he met and married his future wife, Adina, who was a physics student from Romania. Returning to America, he entered Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and was ordained an Orthodox priest in 2011.
Father John currently resides in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, with Presbytera Adina and their two sons, Auxentios and Orestes.
